Nvidia brings the supercomputer to your house

After watching all those Hollywood films featuring futuristic supercomputers that have the ability to help or destroy humanity, have you ever wanted one for your own use? Well, now you can thanks to Nvidia and its latest Tesla C1060 GPU Computing Processor. These machines are already available from ASUS, Dell, and Lenovo with other manufacturers coming aboard. Universities such as MIT, the Max Planck Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Cambridge University, and others are already using similar GPU based systems to advance their scientific computing power and now you can do the same. However, don’t expect to sit down, plug this baby in and take over the world just yet, these are made for running scientific calculations using the specialized CUDA architecture. If you are a big Folding@home fan though, this supercomputer would be right down your alley.
